Elevate is coming to Toronto Sept. 21-27. The entire Toronto Lighthouse Labs staff are excited to attend and participate in the numerous events, speakers, and other exciting activities happening during Canada's largest tech and innovation festival. Read below for our recommendations on what to check out during Elevate.

Jeremy Shaki, Co-founder & CEO

Wants to attend: Elevate ScaleUp and Ray Reddy (CEO and Co-founder, Ritual) // Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP - Sept. 26

Why: “While a lot of the speakers at Elevate ScaleUp may talk about previous experiences or things they've seen in the market, I’m looking forward to hearing Ray talk about how Ritual scales, which they’re right in the middle of executing on. I'm also interested to hear how Ritual is pursuing aggressive growth outside their main markets after reaching the point of local success, especially from a vantage point of being in a similar place.”

Alexandra Radovanovic, Digital Marketing Manager

Wants to see: Yung Wu (CEO, MaRS Discovery District) // Sony Centre - Sept. 25

Why: “I’m intrigued to hear Yung’s thoughts on brain drain in Toronto to the United States reversing and what he sees as the future of startups and what they look like in the coming years, especially with projects like Sidewalk Toronto.”

Topaz Glazer, Head of Special Projects

Wants to attend: Elevate Blockchain, Matthew Spoke (Founder, Aion) and Chris Forrester (CTO, Shyft) // TIFF Bell Lightbox - Sept. 26

Why: “Matthew and Chris are both fantastic speakers and doing interesting and exciting things in the Blockchain space.”

Izzy Piyale-Sheard, Community Manager (Toronto)

Wants to see: Speakers including Michele Romanow (Dragons’ Den dragon, Founder, Clearbanc), Tobias Lütke (Founder and CEO, Shopify), Julie Rice (CBO, WeWork) and Michelle Zatlyn (Founder and COO, Cloudflare)

Why: “Michelle is an incredible and inspirational entrepreneur, investor, dragon on Dragons’ Den, and founder of Clearbanc while Tobi is the founder of one of Canada’s unicorn startup success stories. I’m excited to learn from Julie of WeWork, the most wildly successful coworking space in the world, and someone I absolutely can’t miss and Michelle is another incredible Canadian founder, who brought us Cloudflare, a content delivery service that today protects websites all over the world from the likes of malicious DDoS attacks.”

Tim Huebsch, Jr. Marketing Coordinator

Wants to attend: Elevate Fintech // Telus Tower - Sept. 26

Why: “I’ve been fascinated with personal finance ever since I noticed smaller financial institutions pop up across Canada, and I always find myself questioning whether I should invest myself through self-directed accounts or via robo-advisors, like Wealthsimple.”
