Over the years, Lighthouse Labs has had many students go through the iOS Development Bootcamp and produce astounding iOS apps, some of which have been published to the app store! Here are a few notable ones.
Sam is the Head Instructor for our iOS Development Bootcamp in Vancouver! When he's not teaching at Lighthouse, you can find him snowboarding in Whistler, lounging on Kits beach or supporting his strange habit of eating 5+ coconuts a day. Keep reading to learn a little more about Sam, his programming background and why he loves to teach.
Since graduating from the Lighthouse Lab's full-time Web Development Bootcamp, Cody Brouwers has been honing his coding skills at FlipGive, a fundraising eCommerce startup in Toronto. Coming from a career in corporate HR consulting, this opportunity has been a positive change of pace for Cody. Read further to learn more about his experience at Lighthouse Labs and what other things he has been doing since.

Niloo has some great advice for incoming students and insight on the value of feeling comfortable being uncomfortable. Keep reading to learn more about her experience in the year since she left Lighthouse.
Before coming to Lighthouse Labs, Charlotte Lopez was working as a Graphic Operator & Designer with CBC. Now, she's creating interactive graphics for clients like Disney and Teletoon as a Designer + Developer for Corus Entertainment. We caught up with Charlotte to learn more about her career transition and life after Bootcamp
Our grads constantly impress us. The news of Justine Herman and Carmen Cheng recently launching their iOS app to Apple's App store just weeks after completing Bootcamp is no different! What started out as their Demo Day project has turned into so much more - after many hours collaborating with each other and mentors, FaceForward is ready to roll out to the public.
If you've attended an event at our Vancouver campus, you've likely met Reinhardt! Whether it's attending a Demo Day and meetups, volunteering as a mentor, working on side projects with fellow alumni or hunting for the last slice of pizza, he's an actively adored member of our alumni community.
In celebration of Hour of Code, we're incredibly excited to announce that the HTML500 is back! We're bringing Canada's largest free learn-to-code event across the country to 8+ cities.
At Lighthouse Labs, we believe that having incredible teachers is an invaluable part of our students' success. We are lucky to have amazing teachers who are top craftsmen in their field. Like our students, they are gritty, passionate, and from a wide variety of backgrounds. Unlike our students, they have been working as professional developers for over 10 years and are ready to pay that experience forward. We want to take the time to get to know these teachers a little better.
One of our favourite Devmonth events this past April was the Dear Junior Developer Me panel, where our panelists shared insightful information for the audience of aspiring and junior developers. We’ve compiled our favorite pieces of advice for you to enjoy!
Lighthouse is an incredibly unique, weird place to work. Culture fit is one of the most important qualities that we look for in new staff members, mentors, and for potential students coming into the space. We sent some questions around to our team to find out what they enjoy about our culture and each other. Below is an exhaustive summary of the answers; our love letter to Lighthouse Labs.
Devhub is Canada’s first and only education space for developers of all levels. It is a platform for developers to grow together, whether they've been coding for two decades, or 8 weeks. While I can spend hours telling you about all of the unique features of our space (they call me Chief Talking Officer for a reason), I’d much rather try and explain why we started Devhub, and how it connects to everything we believe in.
Calgary’s tech community has been around for many years but it wasn’t until 2015 that things really started to take off. #LHLYYC's Community Manager Jenn gives us an overview of the scene and a breakdown of events geared towards developers.
We are very, very pleased to have been a part of Codecreate, BC's largest youth coding event for Hour of Code. Resident Code Master Don Burks gives us a recap on why we love empowering kids to take the reigns to learn how code runs our lives.
To celebrate Giving Tuesday, we checked in with two non-profits from our charity hackathon: Code It Forward. The Canucks Autism Network and The Rare Disease Foundation both were recipients of customized solutions created at our event where developers, designers, and ideators gather together for a weekend to solve tech problems for charities and non-profits.
